Project Background:
In workshops processing long materials such as pipes and profiles, the stable transport of heavy, elongated items has long been a critical challenge affecting production efficiency. Recently, a metal manufacturing enterprise collaborated closely with BEFANBY to commission a custom 20-ton rail electric transfer cart equipped with a V-shaped frame. This solution perfectly resolved the difficulties associated with transporting heavy, long profiles and significantly boosted material flow efficiency within the workshop.
Solution:
The client specializes in the processing and sales of large metal pipes and profiles. Their workshop frequently requires the transport of 20-ton class long materials; however, these materials are prone to rolling and difficult to align, making traditional handling methods inefficient and hazardous. Additionally, as the workshop was already equipped with dedicated rails, the required heavy-duty handling equipment needed to be rail-compatible while ensuring the stability and safety necessary for high-frequency, all-day operations.

Given the rail-based operation and the absence of fixed power supply points, the solution utilizes a high-performance battery power system. This ensures long-lasting endurance capable of meeting the demands of high-frequency, all-day operations. The chassis is constructed from high-strength, thickened welded steel plates to reinforce the load-bearing structure, ensuring smooth, wobble-free operation under a 20-ton load—perfectly suited for transporting heavy, long profiles.
To address the challenges of rolling materials and difficult alignment during loading and unloading, a custom V-shaped frame was designed. Tailored to the specific diameter and length of the client's materials, this feature effectively prevents rolling or slipping during transport, greatly enhancing safety and convenience while accommodating various specifications of long profiles. To ensure operational safety in the workshop, the equipment is fitted with a radar-based automatic stop system; this highly sensitive system detects personnel approaching the track area and halts the transfer cart immediately, thereby eliminating safety risks at the source. Additionally, the rail-travel system has been optimized to ensure smooth, uninterrupted movement, making the unit suitable for long-term, high-frequency workshop operations with reliable, stable performance.
Every specification was finalized through repeated consultation with the client, incorporating their feedback to refine details. The result is a 20-ton electric rail transfer cart featuring V-shaped frame—a solution that balances stability, safety, and customization—earning high praise from the client.
